Measures the number of distinct drug crime incidents in Los Angeles using LAPD's NIBRS (National Incident-Based Reporting System) data. Counts distinct case numbers (caseno) to avoid inflating counts when a single incident generates multiple offense records. Covers NIBRS offense codes 35A (drug/narcotic violations including possession and sale of controlled substances) and 35B (drug equipment/paraphernalia violations). Data begins March 7, 2024 when LAPD transitioned to the NIBRS reporting system. Prior to this date, drug crime data is available in the legacy arrest dataset (amvf-fr72).
This data comes from π Drug Crime, a public dataset maintained by Los Angeles on the city's open data portal.
