Sandwiched between noise complaints and sewer odor reports in San Francisco's 311 system is a category called "Muni Employee Feedback: praise_employee." It is, functionally, a compliment hotline for bus drivers. SF residents have used it 1,487 times total. About 74 people called to say something nice about a Muni driver last month alone โ which, given what Muni is like, feels like a minor miracle of civic optimism.
