This metric calculates the commercial vacancy rate by dividing the number of distinct locations (LINs) reported as vacant by the total number of distinct locations that filed Commercial Vacancy Tax returns. It only considers properties where filed='Yes' to ensure accurate vacancy reporting. The rate is expressed as a percentage and can be analyzed by neighborhood, supervisor district, and other geographic divisions.
This data comes from Taxable Commercial Spaces, a public dataset maintained by San Francisco on the city's open data portal.
