Counts police dispatch calls where the final call type is '187' (Homicide) in the SFPD Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) closed calls dataset. This is a leading indicator of homicides β calls are classified in near-real-time by dispatchers and officers on scene, before the official incident report is filed. Includes calls that originated as other types (e.g., SHOOTING/217, MISC/000) but were reclassified to HOMICIDE upon officer arrival. Data updates daily with approximately 1 day lag, making this ~2 days faster than the official SFPD incident report dataset (wg3w-h783).
This data comes from π΄ Homicide Calls (CAD) - Near Real-Time, a public dataset maintained by San Francisco on the city's open data portal.
